At start I thought it was just me, but when I asked my Twitter and Facebook friends about it I got a lot of similar experiences: Gmail and Google Apps are slow in the recent week
Many business functions in my company are based on Google's products. However, their recent service failures, and the service issues now, make me think that cloud is good, but maybe not good enough...

You are getting a service for free. What you get is what you get

First of all, the fact that I am not paying directly doesn’t mean it is free. I watch and click ads, and echanging my privacy with directly paying for the service
Second important point is that a company that provides a service to businesses is expected to maintain a specific level of service.
Third point is a general note about the industry – cloud services are one of the biggest promises in the computing world. The fact that Google can’t get it right makes me wonder about the maturity of this space.
We are a paying Google Apps Enterprise customer and have noticed performance issues lately. It seems to be related to themes being enabled (at least the issues we’re seeing seem to go away turning off themes). Also these issues started coming up once themes were turned on for our domain. We’re actively working with Google on our issues.
Amazing to see that no one is talking about it.
I’ve noticed the same in the last week or so… not much news in the Blogosphere about this though. Gmail seems to have become very slow, though I haven’t changed my Labs options or themes.
I hope things will get better soon though I don’t see it happening…
